Looks like I should have taken tonight's pictures before the Halloween party, where I ate way too much good food.  I was hoping to be able to say that I've dropped 25 lbs in two months, but 22 is still good.  Definitely something to celebrate!  Hmm... how to celebrate...  I think there might be some pumpkin pie still...

I was going to ride the stationary bike thingy, but I ran out of time.  Worked out, though, 'cause I'm just dead tired right now.  And that's without the bike.  Maybe tomorrow?

Not wanting to repeat Week 4's weigh-in, I stepped on the scale three different times when I saw that I had lost 5.6 lbs in the last week.  Yep, I lost 5.6 lbs in a week.  Sure did.  Yay!

  • Some nice mental exercises that I'm not quite ready to share with the world.

Day 54

What I did:

  • 13.2 miles on the stationary bike in 40 minutes.  This was about 8 hrs ago, and my legs are still complaining about it.

Today, my wife asked me a question, half-jokingly, "What are your hopes and dreams?"  I say "half-jokingly" not because she didn't want to know the answer (she did), but because it was just a silly way to start a conversation.  My response was kind of depressing: "I don't really have any..."  I don't know what to make of that.

Day 52

What I did:

  • Went to work at the normal time
  • Left work an hour after arrival
  • Spent over two hours trying to get home due to some inexplicable traffic jam on the highway where there's hardly ever any traffic
  • The rest of the day was spent just resting my body.  I still have this icky, icky cough, but this morning, at work, my eyes were all fuzzy.  Maybe I didn't sleep well again last night?  I dunno.  I'm gonna go to bed now (9:45-ish) and hope that I'm in better shape tomorrow.

  • Went home from work, feeling really tired, which is weird 'cause I went to bed at about 10:30 pm last night.  Got home and slept for over an hour.  I'm not sure what happened.  Maybe I had a sleep apnea episode last night?

Lost 18.2 lbs


Surprised myself with another 3.6 lbs lost.  I didn't exercise much last week (stupid head cold + cough making me feel bleh), and I was only semi-careful about food, although I didn't go over at all.  Good stuff.  I'm hoping that I'll be able to say next week that I've lost 20 lbs in eight weeks.  It isn't a specific goal or anything.  I just think that it will be a neat milestone.

Edit: Just realized that I've replicated the Week 4 weigh-in.  Remember that one?  Where the scale wasn't flat or something?  Well, I made sure of it this time.  I really am 285.4 lbs.

Day 49

What I did:

  • 10.5 miles in 35 minutes on the stationary bike.  I decided that I wanted to go for at least a half-hour, so I kept it at around 80 RPM (18.5 MPH).

Day 47

What I did:

  • Rested.  I would like to get over being sick, now.  What's most frustrating about it is that I don't feel very sick beyond a bit of a head cold, but my body doesn't want to do anything.
  • Had a double Whopper with cheese and bacon for lunch.  Totally not on the diet.  Or is it?  I didn't go over on any of my numbers, but that's because all I had for breakfast and for dinner was a bowl of cereal.  That burger was so good, though.  Definitely worth it.  I think.  Maybe.  I haven't stepped on a scale yet.  We'll see.

    What I did:

    • 1 set of 40 leg lifts
    • 1 set of 20 push-ups. The wife asked a while ago when I mentioned that I had done x sets of y leg lifts, "how many can you do at once?"  I didn't know because I hadn't tried in a long time.  Well, today, I decided to try.

    • Picked up a cold or something.  I was going to do push-ups, but after my shower this morning, I just wanted to lie back down.  After I got home, I spent most of the time under a blanket.  Hopefully, I'll be able to make it to work tomorrow...

    • 4 sets of 15 leg lifts

    I was going to do the stepper thingy tonight, but after work, my back hurt.  Not debilitating, but enough that I didn't want to push my luck.  So, I took it easy and played the Monsters University chapter of Disney Infinity with the wife.  We had a good time, but the MU chapter isn't nearly as fun or interesting as the Pirates of the Caribbean chapter.

    Two more pounds gone.  I was pretty sure that I would have either gained some or at least stayed the same.  There were a lot of restaurants last week, and I hit my calorie max more than once.  But hey, all's well that end's well, right?

    I'm pretty excited to say that I've dropped almost fifteen pounds in six weeks.  Pretty proud, too.

    Day 42

    What I did:

    • 5 miles on the stationary bike in 12 minutes.  I kept it at about 110 RPM, which was about 25 MPH.  My calorie counter thingy claims that I burned 327 calories, but I'm sure it was more.  I was sweating a lot.  Like dripping sweating.  That never happens.  Oh, well.  327 calories is fine to report.

    What I did:

    • Took a rest day as is my custom on Sunday.
    • Went to a family gathering with pizza and chocolate chip cookies. I enjoyed them both, but in moderation.  At least, I thought it was in moderation...  The pizza and the cookies were yummy, but the company was even better!

    • Walked 2 miles (like outside in the sun) in about 28 minutes (more details).  There was some jogging in there, too.  Not as much as I wanted when I started out, but some is better than none.

    What I did:

    • Was awfully bad today.  Didn't exercise at all and I went over my calorie goal.  I blame my bosses.  They made me go to Fuddrucker's for lunch.  I suppose I can't blame them for the no-exercising thing.  That was just me being lazy. I even forgot to take my vitamin today!  Wow.  I was terrible...  Oh, well.  I guess there's nowhere else to go from here but up!

    Lost another three pounds this week, which kind of surprised me.  I was not very good over the weekend.  I went to Olive Garden with my amazing wife on Saturday.  I went over both on calories and on fat.  But man, those breadsticks and that alfredo were good!  Work was also extra-stupid by needing me to work during the evenings, which is when I usually do my stationary bike and/or the stepper thingy.  It looks like everything worked out okay, anyway.

    My sister recommended that I start weighing myself in the morning instead of the evening when I've been doing it.  I considered it and even have a photo of the scale from this morning, but ultimately, I decided to instead be consistent.  Thanks for the advice, though, sis!

    Oh, and the end of Week 4 weight up there ⇧ is actually the End of Month 1, since I think the 285.2 that I posted last Monday was a fluke.

    Day 35

    What I did:

    • 3 sets of 7 push-ups
    • 3 sets of 15 leg lifts
    • 10 miles on the stationary bike in about 25 minutes

    Whoops.  First time ever going over the goal.  I had a date with an amazing woman.  We went to Olive Garden.  It was soooo not on the diet, but it was soooo good.  Afterward, we went to see the Addams Family, a musical theatre show.  It was soooo funny!  Go see it.  It's at the Mesa Arts Center for this week only.  Saturday, Oct 11 is the last day.
