  • Saw "Into the Woods" with my family. That is one weird movie. I don't mean the singing. I grew up on "Phantom of the Opera" and "Les Miserables". I mean that the movie is just weird.

Well, Christmas week has come and gone. I did a lot better than I thought I would. I was expecting to gain a pound or two, but instead, I've lost one! Yay! And it was the one that put me over the 40-lb mark.

  • Took down the Christmas decorations in the house
  • Updated my driver license for the first time in over 12 years

What I did:

  • Scored a wooden 10-game set at the office gift exchange.
  • Played Magic: the Gathering at Desert Sky Games. I played six games and lost every one. I didn't expect to do very well, but I wasn't expecting to lose every game. Kinda disappointing.

  • Pounded on a punching bag for 20 minutes. My calorie counter says that was only 200-something calories burned, but I think it was more, judging from my heart rate and how much I was sweating.

  • Pretended to be good. Well, I was good with the food. And there wasn't really any pretending to exercise. I just didn't do it. So I guess this whole update is a lie. Oh, well. Have a picture of my cat.

Barely any change this week, which is both surprising and not, at the same time. I was really good this week, food-wise, with only one naughty day. However, I don't exactly remember the last time I exercised. Was it last week, or the week before? I don't know...

I've fallen back into the rut of "exercising is boring and dull, and I don't wanna do it." I haven't figured out yet what I'm going to do about that.

Day 105

What I did:

  • Watched my amazing wife earn her orange belt in karate, shipping both yellow and gold.

What I did:

  • Wondered how much meaning the "Sunday rest day" actually has, when the rest of the week was also a rest day. By which, I mean that it's been a week since I've done any real exercise. Maybe two. I need to get an exercise buddy or something. Motivation is a thing that I'm losing. I'm still doing well with the food and the eating, so that's something.

  • Had a salad at my daughter's birthday party. I didn't have even one bite of the pizza, though I wanted it. Then, dinner appeared. A hamburger and an order of jalapeño poppers. So much for the salad...

  • Played a bunch of games of Uno with my amazing wife. Tuesday is our at-home date night. We've been doing them for a couple of months now. I really look forward to them. Spending time with the wife is teh awesome!

I lost 4 lbs this week! This was the first week with my new calorie goal, which I never passed. Looks like it's working so far. It also looks like my gut isn't stocking out quite so much. This is the first time that I've been able to see some progress in my waistline, which is especially good since that's what I want to shrink the most.

Day 98

What I did:

  • Made will-breaker brownies... Mmm... S'mores brownies... What? The box says that it's only about 200 calories per bar! I haven't eaten any yet. They're still cooling. But once they've cooled a bit, I'm totally eating one! And I'm not gonna feel guilty! It's a reward for myself to celebrate staying under my new calorie goal of 2150. Yeah, that's it.

Edit: Okay, so I've eaten the s'mores brownie now.  It was as wonderful as I was hoping.  That is all.  Please return to your previous activities.

  • Took the kids to a park and played on some of the things for a bit. Nothing workout-worthy, but we had a good time.

  • Drank some bad milk this morning. I think I'm okay...
  • Refinanced my car loans, saving me a couple hundred a month. I think I'll put that extra money towards frivolities and bad food. No, not really. I wouldn't want to compromise my façade as a responsible adult.

  • 6.5 miles on the stationary bike in 20 minutes. I cranked the resistance up this time and wore the new (cheap-o) track suit that I picked up in Walmart on Black Friday. I was sweating like a thing that sweats a lot!

Yeah, yeah. This update is a day late. I'm sick. Leave me alone. In other news, I've lost 10% of my starting weight in three months. I'm pretty proud of my progress. I'm going to change my calorie goals on my calorie counter tonight. Maybe that's why my progress has been a little slower lately. Well, besides the fact that I've been so naughty... We'll see what happens next week.

Today's weigh-in is a bit of a milestone. While 30 lbs is a nice round number, it also marks 10% of my starting weight. So there's that. I'm a little concerned about this next week, though. Thanksgiving is in three days... All that turkey... And mashed potatoes... And gravy... Yum yum yum. Well, great. Now I'm hungry. Um, well, hungrier.

  • 30 minutes on the stationary bike for about 9.5 miles
