I have lost more than 60 lbs. It's incredible to me. 60 lbs is a lot. I don't think that my 10-year-old son weighs 60 lbs.

  • Did something truly amazing not unlike climbing Mt Everest, then realized that it wasn't me

After two wells of stagnation, I've finally broken 60 lbs! I've had a number of people ask me if I've lost weight lately; the most recent was just yesterday at church. It felt good to be able to say that I've lost "almost 60 lbs". It feels even better to say that I've lost over 60 lbs.

  • Woke up, get ready for work, went to work, worked, came home, um, did stuff

What I did:

  • Drafted the new Magic set at Friday Night Magic. I am terrible at drafting. I played for games in total and lost them all. They weren't even close. That's okay, though, because I had a good time and got some new cards.

  • Went to Commander night again and had a good time. I played a game with a deck that I had built years ago that completely dominated the four-player game. Good times!

What I did:

  • Received an Irish flute in the mail
  • Got a headache from blowing into said Irish flute in a vain attempt to convince it to make a sound. Not necessarily a good sound or a bad sound, but any sound.


Here's the flute. It's made of rosewood. Pretty, isn't it?

  • Played in a Magic Prerelease, but didn't do very well. I did get some good cards in my card pool, though, so it wasn't a total wash.

Day 200: BONUS!


Yep, those were my pants. They used to fit me, but only because they had a stretchy waist. I've lost quite a few inches in the last 200 days!

  • Scored a beta key for Heroes of the Storm. I haven't had a chance to play much yet, but it's been pretty fun so far.

  • Walked for about 15 minutes while waiting for Commander night to start. I won one game, but got triple-teamed on the second. I didn't last very long in that game.

  • Walked all over the Renaissance Festival. Several times. It was awesome. I would have preferred to go with my wonderful wife, but she was busy winning karate trophies. I did get to hang out with a high school buddy whom I haven't seen in years. That was fun.

  • About three hours of hauling a vacuum cleaner around the house

  • 2 sets of 10 reps of triceps extensions, also with 10-lb dumbbells
  • 1.5 sets of 10 reps of push-ups... I tried to do the full 2 sets, but my arms gave out


Heh, "1 calories remaining". Come on, programmers. Test for the ones case. It's not hard to do.

I've completed half of a year and knocked off more than a sixth of my body. It feels good to be able to say that, but more importantly, I haven't had sleep troubles in several months. That feels good to say and even better to experience. Speaking of sleep... *yawn*

Day 182

What I did:

  • Struggled to walk. Remember all of those calf raises I did on Saturday? Well, if my legs are motionless for more than a few songs (like, for instance, when I'm working), my calves all but lock up, making it very difficult to stand up. I'm hoping that this ends soon

  • Had the French pot roast at Mimi's Cafe. It was huge! It could easily have been the results of an entire crock pot. It was delicious, too. The meat was so melty... Mmmm... The best part is that I have a yummy lunch already prepared. Maybe even two!
