I look at my numbers, and I'm amazed. Did I think that I would have lost almost 50 pounds in five months? Absolutely not. Honestly, I wasn't even sure that I would be able to stick with it for more than a few weeks.

  • Had a relatively low-stress day. It's been awhile...

Day 149

What I did:

  • Completed the project that I've been working on for the last week. It was icky, and I'm glad that it's finished. I just hope that there aren't any problems in QA.

What I did:
  • Attempted to toast marshmallows using a candle and a fork. It didn't go well. It was a fun experiment, though. I should have stopped after the first one. Stomach says, "ugh."

I'm now closer to the 50-mark than the 40-mark. Pretty cool, no? Honestly, I didn't think that I would get this far, but here I am!

Day 147

What I did:

  • Took out the garbage? Not much of accomplishment...
  •  Made it through the whole day of work. That was an accomplishment.

  • 2 sets of 40 half-crunches

Day 141

What I did:

  • 3 minutes with a jump rope. Doesn't sound like much, but I had to go really fast or the jump rope didn't work.
  • Had a pretty successful day at work. I didn't finish the project I've been working on for two weeks, but I had a major breakthrough, and I should be done tomorrow.

  • Gave a talk in church about how children have learned Gospel truths through the songs in the Children's Songbook. A lot of people told me later how much the enjoyed it. "Very moving," said one woman. Another told me that it was the best talk she had ever heard. Probably a little hyperbolic, but we'll forgive her.

  • Played two games of Magic: the Gathering with my amazing wife--something that I've wanted to do for 12 years.

A little setback this week. My 12th anniversary was on Saturday, and we made it a special day, by which I mean that I ate way too much good food. It was all kinds of awesome, though. The holidays are all but over now, so things should get back on track pretty soon.

  • Taught a new batch of kids at church. New year, so I get a new class. Same age group, different kids. They seem to be pretty awesome.

  • Celebrated my 12th anniversary with my wonderful wife. A lot more than I should have. We took our two youngest kids out for a vacation day (the oldest is visiting my parents). It was a very nice time with good food and even better company. Just not exactly a good day for the diet. My worst day since I started. And I wouldn't change anything about it.
